More than 650 guests converged on the Washington State Trade and Convention Center on March 17 to celebrate the transformative work that Habitat is doing in our community. (Click here to see pictures of the event.) The 90-minute event was emceed by KING TV anchor Dennis Bounds and included a new Habitat video, a presentation by our affiliate CEO, Marty Kooistra, and the Three Interfaith Amigos. Christine Vanderwerf, a future Habitat homeowner, movingly told of overcoming formidable obstacles in her life, her current success, and her soon-to-be-realized dream of homeownership. Her story and appreciation for Habitat barely left a dry eye in the room.
Thank you to the hundreds of donors, both those who attended and those who could not attend, who gave generously so that Habitat could continue its mission to build, renovate and advocate for durable, affordable housing in our community. Thanks, too, to the many sponsoring businesses and organizations which made it possible that every gift given would directly benefit our mission. Special thanks goes to HomeStreet Bank which, once again, was our Presenting Sponsor and also supplied volunteers to help set up and work the event. Our deep appreciation also goes to sponsors BECU, Pinnacle, GLY Construction, NBBJ, Unico, Seattle Bank, Bendokas Painting, Gudmundson Company Painting, Hillis, Clark, Martin & Peterson, the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties and the Weyerhaeuser Company.
It ‘s not too late to give if you were unable to attend this inspiring event. We need your help now more than ever. Click here to donate now.
