About us
Habitat for Humanity of Seattle/South King County is a non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Established in 1986 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, Habitat for Humanity of Seattle/South King County works in partnership with God and people from all walks of life to build decent, affordable homes for families in need.
Since 1986 our local affiliate has built durable, decent affordable housing in partnership more than 150 very low-income families. Habitat is not a giveaway program. Homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor -- sweat equity -- into building their Habitat house and they pay a no-profit, no-interest mortgage.
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) , based in Americus, Georgia, is an ecumenical Christian ministry dedicated to eliminating poverty housing. Habitat has built over 350,000 houses, and more than 1.75 million people are living in Habitat homes they helped build and are buying through no-profit, zero-interest mortgages. Habitat is a worldwide, grass-roots movement with more than 2,100 affiliates in 100 countries, including all 50 states of the United States.
